2020 Toyota 4Runner Price, Interior, Release Date

Saturday, July 6th, 2019 - Toyota

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro is one of the SUVs at the top of the capability list. Most SUVs have been turned into crossovers with unibody chassis, but the 4Runner remained true to itself with the body-on-frame construction. Plus, let’s not forget about the TRD Pro suspension system, which adds value to the car.

2020 Toyota 4Runner Changes

2020 Toyota 4Runner Redesign & Changes

The 2020 4Runner TRD Pro comes with some updates and one of the most important is the modified Fox Racing Shocks, which are going to improve handling at high-speed runs over the desert. But there are some other changes to the exterior which keep the 4Runner one of the hardest competitors on the market.

The new model is going to feature the new roof rack and that is the largest change in terms of exterior design. The black bars on the top of the roof totally match with the demeanor of the car and make the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro even more menacing. Toyota officials claim that the rack has been added to increase the cargo space of the new model. There are some other changes such as the new LED fog lights, which should be more effective than the previous ones.

2020 Toyota 4Runner Interior & Concept

The interior remains more or less the same, but there are some slight changes worth mentioning. For instance, the Entune infotainment system has received an upgrade and now it comes with a premium JBL Audio system with navigation and Toyota’s App suite. Toyota still thinks that the introduction of the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is not a good idea, which could repel some buyers.

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will have the seats wrapped in Softex from now on and you will see cool red contrast stitching and TRD logos on the headrests. The floor mats and the shift knob are also decorated with the logo. In the trunk, there are 47.2 cubic feet of cargo room when the last row of seats is upright, which is more than enough to pack all of your stuff. To increase it, fold the rear seats and you will get 89.7 cubic feet. And now with the roof rack installed, there is nothing to worry about.

Toyota still wants to keep the already outdated 4.0-liter V6 engine. It produces 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque and it is combined with a five-speed automatic transmission which also needs replacement. While Toyota dominates in a lot of aspects, the EPA estimates are not one of them. The 2018 4Runner TRD Pro is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway and nothing will change with the 2020 model.

What you need to know about the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. Is that the part-time 4WD system is used with a manual shift lever. You can engage the 4WD high range while driving. But if you want the low range you will have to pull over and put the transmission into neutral. Still, this is quite a good feature to have! The new 4Runner comes equipped with an electronic locking rear differential and Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select system. The driver can select different driving modes, that include: Mud, Snow, and Rocks. Another important feature is the Crawl Control.

The official pricing for the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro has not been announced yet. But we expect similar prices to the 2018 4Runner. To translate that into numbers, 2018 started at $42,875, so expect the new model at $43,000 or slightly up.

Release Date

The 4Runner debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in early February, which means that it will go on sale in fall 2018. That is great news for the fans of this vehicle, who only have to wait for the summer to pass! The exact release date is unknown.
